IMMIGRATION AND THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD
Is God in control or is God not in control? I amazed at the convenience of the sovereignty of God. When something in society does not affect us negatively, we tell others to trust God, God is in control. God knows what is best. When however, some event invades our personal space negatively then suddenly the government and the politicians are not doing their jobs. Consider immigration. There seems to be great disagreement regarding this political issue. For now, I will address those who claim to be followers of the Beautiful Jesus. When people come to our land what is our preeminent concern. (By the way our land is really the land of the native Americans who were removed by genocide. A fact conveniently absent from all dialogue about immigration.) People come from another country, and we want borders shut, because of our health care, our taxes, our economic losses. My question is this. Why do we not hear evangelical Christians celebrating the sovereignty of God when other come to this land. One would think the followers of Jesus would be delighted to have all nations at their doorstep. No need to spend thousand on missions, when God brings the people our neighborhood. Or maybe we want the sinners to stay over there, and we send the Gospel to them. What a divine and God sent opportunity, Hattian, Russian, Chinese, Mexican and a host of other ethnicities coming to a land where there are more Bibles and churches than we know what to do with. Clearly the true follower of Jesus sees this as an opportunity for evangelism extraordinary. This is only if our heart is more concerned for their souls, the Great Commission of Jesus then our economic plight. With much love in The Beautiful Jesus, pastor john
